Big shout out to our Superintendent - Chad Dail, Maintenance/Transportation Director - Joey McKenzie, and awesome neighbor Mr. Tischler, for chipping away at the ice today! They’ve been out in the cold all morning making sure the drop-off lanes are safe for your return.
It’s a great day to be a Tiger when you have a community that cares this much. The thaw is happening, and school is ON for tomorrow! See you in the morning, May ISD! 💚 Go Tigers! 🤍

Happy Birthday Mrs Tareh!

Due to worsening road conditions, May ISD will remain CLOSED tomorrow, Thursday, January 29. Safety is our number one priority. Mr. Dail is currently out driving each bus route personally to assess the situation. He has determined that at least one-third of our students live on roads that still have a large amount of ice. Because of these hazardous conditions, we cannot safely transport students to school tomorrow. Good News for Friday: The weather forecast is improving! We anticipate that road conditions will melt enough for us to resume classes on Friday, January 30. Please stay safe and warm one more day, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Friday!

🐾Our Tigers and Lady Tigers have an updated game scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29.

✨FCA will meet Friday!!

❄️ Weather Update: School Closure
May ISD will remain CLOSED tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan 28.
While road conditions remain hazardous for Wednesday, we are closely monitoring the forecast and fully expect to welcome everyone back to campus on Thursday, Jan 29.
Safety First: We are making this call now so families can plan ahead. We can’t wait to see our Tigers back in the hallways on Thursday morning!
Stay safe and stay warm tonight. 🐯❄️

❄️ SNOW DAY UPDATE: May ISD will remain CLOSED on Tuesday, Jan 27. We will continue to monitor conditions for Wednesday. 📅 Makeup Day: We will now have school on Friday, Feb 27. Stay safe and warm, Tigers! 🐅

The JH games have been rescheduled for Wednesday January 28th at Sidney

Dear May ISD Families and Community,
Due to the significant winter storm and extreme cold front moving through our area, May ISD will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The National Weather Service has forecasted a dangerous mix of sleet and freezing rain beginning tonight and continuing through much of the weekend. With temperatures in May expected to drop as low as 8°F on Saturday night and remain near freezing on Monday morning, road conditions are expected to become hazardous.
As a rural district, we understand that many of our families and buses navigate backroads and bridges that are particularly susceptible to ice. In making this decision, the safety of our students and staff is our absolute priority. We believe that announcing this now provides our families with the necessary time to make arrangements and stay safely off the roads during the peak of the storm's impact.
Please stay warm, check on your neighbors, and take all necessary precautions to protect your family and property during this hard freeze. We will continue to monitor the weather and will provide further updates regarding Tuesday’s schedule via our May ISD School App and social media channels.
Stay safe,.
Sincerely,
Chad Dail, Superintendent
