Welcome to the 2026 Girls Athletics Season! We want to share an important update regarding our daily schedule for the upcoming school year. To keep our student-athletes safe and healthy during the Texas heat, we are adapting our schedule to follow the latest UIL safety guidelines. High school athletics will take place during first period, and our cross country runners will lace up for morning practices starting at 6:30 a.m. each school day until further notice. JH will be last period, but they will still run in the mornings as well. After school, the girls will head over to the weight room for team strength training, wrapping up around 4:30 p.m. We know our families have busy schedules, so we want to make sure the girls get plenty of rest. Once our regular competitive season begins, we will adjust morning practices, giving our athletes some well-deserved recovery time later in the week. We truly appreciate your family's amazing flexibility and support as we make these adjustments together. 🐯 The good news keeps coming at May ISD! 🐯 We are thrilled to congratulate elementary teacher Heather Barrera for being recognized in the Brownwood News Teacher Features! 🧮✨ Heather is an 8-year teaching veteran who has spent 7 of those years right here at May ISD, inspiring our 3rd and 4th graders to understand and love math. She went to high school right here in the area before graduating from Tarleton State University and coming back home to teach. It is the absolute ultimate compliment to our district that so many of our educators are alumni of May or nearby schools. They grew up in these communities, and now they choose to pour their hearts back into the next generation of Tigers. In a small school, our students aren't just names on a roster—they are family. Teachers like Mrs. Barrera are the perfect example of why May ISD is such an incredible place to learn, grow, and belong! 🐯 Tiger Pride runs deep! 🐯 Huge congratulations to May ISD Junior High English teacher Nathana Morris for being featured in the Brownwood News! 📚✨ Nathana graduated from May and has been back home teaching in our district for the last 3 years. She is one of the many phenomenal educators who make May ISD an incredible place to learn. In fact, so many of our teachers and staff members are alumni of May or nearby schools. Welcome to the team, Mr. Ryan Crafton! 🌟 We are excited to have Mr. Crafton joining our district, and he’s already hitting the ground running this summer! He spent a fantastic week in Fort Worth accompanying our incredible students at the Texas FFA Convention. From leadership workshops to inspiring speakers, it was an unforgettable week of growth. Here is what Mr. Crafton had to say about his first big trip with our students: "Fun week in Fort Worth at the 98th FFA Convention with this group! From attending workshops and getting to hear some great speakers to getting to know each other. It was a productive week! We did have some down time to discuss and set some expectations moving forward for the upcoming school year.
